Note: The first time you use BlueJeans from your browser, you will need to download a plug-in. It is strongly recommended to run a test call before your first class.
Using BlueJeans for the first time
Before your first online session, it is recommended to conduct a test call.
- To test the audio and video quality of your connection go to https://bluejeans.com/111/
- If this is your first time using BlueJeans, you will be prompted to install a browser plugin.
- Click Download on the ‘Install Browser Plugin’ screen
- Once the plugin has finished installing you may start your first meeting.

Recommendations for your online session
- For the best overall experience, have a wired internet connection. For example, trying to access your online class from the free wifi at Starbucks is probably a bad idea.
- For the best audio experience, use a headset (with a microphone if you will be leading class discussions).

The quality of the session (audio/video) is poor or unstable.
The quality of a session is determined by the bandwidth (strength) of your internet connection. Solutions for enhancing the quality of your session include:
- Reducing bandwidth usage by shutting down applications such as Netflix and Remote Desktop.
- Checking the speed of your internet connection at speedtest.net. If the upload and download values are less than 1 Mbps, then this speed may be insufficient to use BlueJeans.
- All sessions include a telephone dial-in audio bridge. Try this out if you cannot resolve the quality of the session. For more information, please see this article.
How do I rejoin a meeting if I lose my connection?
Losing access to a meeting session can happen for a few reasons. Either your wireless connection may be overloaded, increased activity on your network, or lack of a wired connection.
If your connection drops then select the ‘rejoin’ button on the upper right corner of the log-out screen. If that does not work then try to refresh your browser. If refreshing your browser does not get you back into the session, then you may rejoin again through BlueJeans. Remember, wired connections are best!
